Our theme this month is Human Skills For the Future

Life moves so quickly and every day these days, seems to be another stressor that makes just existing a challenge. We can look to nature for guidance. Every year, the plants and trees blossom and new life emerges, despite however hard the winter was. What is also interesting is that the perennials like daffodils and tulips spring forth before the other plants, and they do so every year, because the gardener took the time to plant these kinds of seeds and bulbs in the past.

Practicing human skills builds a future that blooms with connection and kindness; traits that are needed more than ever. First, we have to know what to plant and where and when. We can't think of a better time to plant these seeds. Conscious Ground offers several Human Skills 'seeds' for a happier future. One way is via our events.

Be on the lookout for a free event in the coming months where we explore human skills in-depths and our suggestions on how to practice them.

Men's Work Events in Ojai California

For over a decade, we've been leading essential work in Authentic Male Leadership and Development. To create a more equitable and thriving world, we guide men in connecting with their deepest inner truth and honoring the truths of others. This journey of profound self-awareness is the foundation for the authentic leadership our society needs for the future. We've also opened a waitlist for our first online men's group which is an excellent opportunity to grow as a man and/or a leader.

For those in the Southern California area, we are offering an overnight Men's Gathering event in early May. Join us for this opportunity to explore masculinity in a meaningful way.

Stolen Attention, Lost Connection: How We Get It Back - Free Virtual Workshop - May 28th, 5:30p pacific

Our attention, the very thing that allows you to connect with people we love, to think clearly, to feel inspired, to dream, is being extracted from us at industrial scale.

In this session, we'll explore not only the problem and its impact, but also how we can turn things around.

New Conscious Ground Offerings

Facilitation We work with groups for the quick fix of an issue or to build lasting skills that helps groups and teams achieve next level collaboration. We draw on training from the Skilled Facilitator Approach, the Sustained Dialogue Institute, Authentic Revolution's facilitation framework, and over a decade of practice across corporate, civic, and community settings.

Men's Group Waitlist Most men want to be better. Better partners, better leaders, better fathers, better friends, better co-workers. But there are very few spaces in the modern world designed to help men actually grow in the ways that matter most. Conscious Ground has been committed to this fundamental work for many years and we are now opening our Men's Group to the general public.

You can take a look at all of our offerings below, all designed to help you create more connection in your life.

Human Skills Practice

Every month, we offer a human skill that you can practice to improve your relationships and health.

Some human skills don't come naturally, but they can with practice.

One thing we're focusing on right now is attention and awareness. Our ability to take a moment, notice where we are, and set attention with intention. Specifically, to be able to put attention on taking some momentary rest in our body.

This only takes a few minutes. And you can use it almost anywhere.

The one-week challenge:

See if you can do this practice for a few mins every day this week. Notice how you feel.

What We're Reading

Attensity!: A Manifesto of the Attention Liberation Movement.

This one will likely be one of our top book recommendations for the year. It is not meant to be a solution to the problem of the attention economy, but to inspire us to see that attention is so much more important than just the amount of time we spend on screens.

Drawing on a rich legacy of critical intellectuals and the creative wisdom of diverse traditions, Attensity! calls on us to come together to defeat the greedy dehumanizing forces of brute instrumentalization—and re-enchant the world.

To improve your reading speed and get more connected to inspiration, join the waitlist for our speed reading course.

"One of the hardest things for any human to do is be human."

– Simon Sinek

An image of a person wearing a partial mask

This article was written by a human and originally published on What The Warbler Knows. In all walks of life, from the meeting room to the neighborhood, people are yearning for more. More trust, deeper connection, genuine inspiration. Yet modern society pushes us in the opposite direction: toward disconnection, isolation, and self-interest over collective good. One of the most powerful traits that can reverse this trend and create more success at work and in community is authenticity. We...
